Any time there is a change to the OASIS, there needs to be an educational plan for both the staff that collect data but also for those who review it. Unfortunately, the “effective date” of these changes always falls on January 1 of a given year. This puts the window of education in the same time frame as multiple major holidays and brings along increasing referrals and staffing challenges. No agency has an abundance of time (or dime) to spend bringing in staff for education that typically lasts hours. The alternative to is send a select few to training sessions outside the organization and hope the “train the trainer” model works this time.
